The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Triune God. The person is visible from the very beginning of creation (Gen. 1: 2). Thus, we find the fact that throughout the Old Testament the Holy Spirit continues to actively manifest Himself, but not directly in the form of the Spirit, but through symbols, including:
1. Water
This is the first symbol, in which Aaron and his sons were consecrated as a sign of sanctification or sanctification (Genesis 29: 1-14). Next look at the following reference verses (Exodus 17: 1-7; 30: 17-21; Zechariah. 10: 1).
2. Wind
For example the cloud pillar during the day, and the pillar of fire at night. This happened to the Israelites when they were in the wilderness, where they needed guidance from God. (Exodus. 13:21).
3. Oil
In Israelite worship, oil was used for holy objects in the temple of God and for the priests (Ex. 25:26; 30: 22-23; 1 Sam. 10: 1, 6). It was with this oil that the priests also did their duty to anoint.
4. Fire
When Moses was tending his sheep on Mount Horeb, God revealed Himself in "burning thorns" to communicate Himself, this is the next symbol of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament (Exodus 3: 2).
5. Wine
With the wine brought by Priest Melchizedek, as a sign to bless Abram. Thus this is also a symbol of the unction of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament (Genesis 14: 18-20).
