5 FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE BIRTH OF MOSES

Who does not know the name "Moses", a man who was very well known as a leader who led the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt (Ex. 2: 23-24). Here are the facts about the story of his birth, namely:

1. BORN AT THE GOVERNMENT OF THE NEW KING IN EGYPT (Ex. 1: 8)

There arose a new king who ruled the land of Egypt, at that time Joseph had died, so that the new king no longer knew the figure of Joseph who had been an influential figure in Egypt. At that time the Israelites were living together in Egypt, even though the new king did not know the figure of Joseph. In the first chapter of the book of Exodus, the name of the new king is not mentioned. This new king, the government replaced the reign of Pharaoh who had lived at the time of Joseph's life (Gen. 47).

2. BORN AT A NORTH WHEN EXPERIENCE OR ABUSE (Ex. 1: 13-14)

The birth of Moses was also marked by events of oppression and persecution against the Israelites who lived in Egypt. The background of this oppression and persecution was because the new king was worried about the large number of Israelites in Egypt and was afraid that they would betray and join the enemy in the event of war. This worry results in an even more oppressive action. The totaly number of the children of Israel who arrived in Egypt numbered seventy (Gen. 46:27).

3. BORN FROM A LEWI DESCRIPTION (Ex. 2: 1)

The Bible says that both his parents came from the same tribe, namely the tribe of Levi. Levi himself was a descendant of Jacob who was appointed priests, who were then ordained to the office of priest (Num. 3: 1-3). The many descendants of Levi are referred to as the sons or tribes of Levi. The meaning of the name Levi itself is "For once my husband will be closer to me, because I have given him three sons." Thus Levi was the third son (Gen 29:34).

4. BORN AFTER YUSUF DIED (Ex. 1: 7)

In the Bible, especially the last chapters of the book of Genesis, it is stated that after Joseph, an Israelite who had ruled in the land of Egypt, died, Moses was born. Thus, Moses did not have time to get to know Joseph directly. Joseph himself had two children born to him in the land of Egypt (Gen 46: 27a).

5. BORN AT THE MURDER OF A BOY IN EGYPT

At the time of Moses' birth there was also the massacre of every baby boy throughout Egypt. This is the follow-up to the new Egyptian king for the sake of government. Moses who was a man had to be hidden by his masters for three months. Thus Moses escaped from the murder.
